Libro Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Handbook for the Margaree: A Guide to the Salmon Pools of the Margaree River System; by James T. Grey, Jr.; illustrations and photographs by the author; Yardley, PA., 1976. Copyright 1976 by James T. Grey, Jr. Printed in the U.S.A. First edition. All royalties are assigned to the Margaree Salmon Museum at N. E. Margaree, N.S. Price on the front flap - $9.00. On the front free endpaper is the stamp of The Normaway Inn, Margaree Valley, Cape Breton Island, N.S., likely where this book was published. From the Preface To fish a river well, one must know the river intimately. And to learn the mysteries of any river one must spend precious hours searching its pools, observing its moods, and slowly cementing a relationship that will lead to a silvery reward. It was my great good fortune as a novice salmon fisherman on the Margaree to become associated with a group of dedicated anglers, guests of the Harts at North East Margaree. Salmon was the language spoken around the Harts table morning, noon, and evening, and far into the night. From the Introduction The idea for this handbook, like the Margaree River system, arises from twin sources. The first is the compulsion to set down in an orderly manner the knowledge of the river system which I have acquired over many seasons. The second is the inspiration which I received from Agustus Grimble s timeless book The Salmon Rivers of Scotland. There is a chapter in this book for each of the 35 pools in the Margaree. Each pool is illustrated by a black & white photograph, either of the Downstream or Upstream View, and a sketch. The book also has a topographical map of the Margaree River and 12 colour photographs. This book, 197 pages is in near-fine condition in a very-good dust jacket that is in a protective mylar wrap.
