Oblong quarto (ca. 230 x 305 mm). Sewn. Pianoforte: [1] (title), 19; Violin: [1] (title), [7]; Violoncello: [1] (title), [7] pp. Notated in dark brown ink in a single hand on 10-stave rastrum-ruled paper. With watermark of bird within a shield. Slightly worn; stitching beginning to loosen; a few small stains; minor tears to spine of pianoforte part. One other manuscript copy located at Universitätsbibliothek Johann Christian Senkenbert, Frankfurt am Main. Gyrowetz was a Bohemian composer from a musical family. As a promising young composer, he travelled and worked through the main musical cities of Europe, including Vienna, Paris, London, and throughout Italy. He befriended and was mentored by some of the major figures of his day including Haydn, Dittersdorf, and Mozart. "An autobiography in 1848 describes in detail not only his contacts with a large number of well-known musical, literary, artistic and political figures, but also the performing practices and social conditions in many of Europe's leading musical centres. During his last decades he was greatly admired by the younger generation, including Meyerbeer, who even assisted him financially. Gyrowetz served as a pall-bearer at Beethoven's funeral, and encouraged Chopin early in his career. Despite the international focus of his career, Gyrowetz seems also to have been aware of the nationalistic movement in Bohemia, and set a number of songs in the Czech language." Neben seinen dreißig Opern, u. a. 'Robert oder die Prüfung' (1813) und 'Hans Sachs' (1836), komponierte Gyrowetz vorwiegend Symphonien und Streichquartette" (DBE).
