Expected library inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Pages are moderately tanned and foxed throughout. Occasional thumb-marking present. Cracking to hinges with exposed binding, causing board to be loose. Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Light scuffing to text-block edges. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Soft crushing to spine ends. Notable tanning to spine and edges. Scuffing and light marking overall. Scuffed white paper remnants to surfaces. Book is notably forward leaning. Unclipped jacket has heavy edge wear with some areas of loss, heavy tears, chips and creasing. Dark rubbing and marking to surfaces, with scuffing to edges. Dark scuffing to all surfaces.

Binding remains firm. Occasional thumb-marking present throughout. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with notable bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Light tanning to spine and edges, with visible crushing to spine ends. Book has a pronounced forward lean.

In overall good used condition in a fair dj with some signs of handling and storage - dj is complete but rubbed, chipped and nicked to edges with a couple of repairs; illustrated blue cloth boards are rubbed to edges and faded where the dj is chipped. Binding overall tight and appears little read - minor crack to gutter at half-title, no annotations - 4 word gift inscription to half-title and remains of a postage (?) stamp to reverse of frontispiece; toning and slight spotting to page-ends and endpapers but text, illustrations and maps at endpapers bright and clear throughout. Not an old library book. Photograph available.
