VG near fine no dj. softcovers. Book in excellent condition with no markings. or inscriptions. not price clipped. internally a good crisp clean copy. From the personal collection of a dealer/collector. Unwired combines two concurrent projects from the Dutch photographer Jacqueline Hassink (*1966 in Enschede), both of which sharpen our eye for an increasingly digitally connected world. In Unwired Landscapes she has sought out places where it is impossible to build a network, where there is pure radio silence, so to speak-remote areas like the Japanese island of Yakushima, the Norwegian group of islands Svalbard known as Spitsbergen, or the uninhabitable volcanic desert of Iceland are caught by her lens, as are artificially created dead zones in urban spaces, such as a Digital Detox Hotel in Baden Baden.Initially, her second project, iPortrait, seems to be the exact opposite of her first. In this project Hassink portrays people immersed in their smartphones in the subways of big cities such as New York, Paris, London, Moscow, Shanghai, Seoul, and Tokyo. Here, she reveals the other side of digital networking, which interferes with direct contact between human beings.

Gebundene Ausgabe. Condizione: Gebraucht.

"Jacqueline Hassink is famous for "The Table of Power", published 2000 (Martin Parr, The Photobook, vol 2, page 278/279). Since 1993 Jacqueline Hassink has been using photography to work methodically and precisely with the themes of globalisation and economic power. Her first major serie, "The Table of Power" (1993-95) involves photographs of the boardroom tables of Europe`s 40 largest multinationals. Other series include "Female Power Stations: Queen Bees` (1996-2000) about the bsiness and domestic environments of the world`s leading women executies, and "Car Girls (2002-07) about the manifestations of power in the word of the global car fairs. The Power book, the first survey of Hassink`s photography, presents the best of her photographs from America, Europe, the Middle East and Japan in chronological order and accompanied by over 100 pages of notebook pages and sketches, illuminatin the thinking behind the work. Jacqueline Hassink is a Dutch-bron conceptual artist, originally trained as a sculptor. After moving to Oslo to work as a weaving designer, she turned to photography and began work on "The Table of Power". On completion of her first photographic project, she immediately started to investigate the powerful influence of European Banks on European multinationals in the series "Banks" (1995-96). For more than a decade Hassink has been investigatin the spaces of contemporary industrial power. Els Barents is a curator and writer and Director of Huis Marseille museum for photography, Amsterdam. her previous books include domestic Landscapes: A Portrait of Europeans at Home (2007) and Hellen Van Meene: Travel Portraits (2006). His previous books include Raymond Depardon: Photographer and Filmmaker (2005)." (from the publisher) "This is the first survey of the photographic oeuvre of the Dutsch artist Jacqueline Hassink and wonderfully shows how well thought-out and consistently executed her projects are. What makes the publication especially remarkable are the 144 pages taken from her personal notebooks, printed on thinner paper. The notes offer insight into Hassink`s day-to-day artistic practice, how her ideas come about and are developed." (Tanja Wallroth, Foam Magazine)***************Chris Boot. 2007. Originalausgabe. Gebundene Ausgabe. Condizione: Gebraucht. Gebraucht - Sehr gut sg - ungelesenes mängelexemplar, gestempelt, mit leichten lagerspuren - The financial crisis of 2009 shook the global economy to its very foundations. Yet has anything changed at the centers of power since Do executive suites look different than they used to And what do they actually look like A decade ago, Jacqueline Hassink (\*1966 in Enschede, the Netherlands) captured images of desks and conference room tables at what were at the time the largest multinational corporations in the world. Magnum photographer Martin Parr included her project in his catalogue of the most important photo books of the twentieth century. Today, the artist is taking another look at the headquarters of the approximately fifty companies that the American business magazine Fortune lists as the most powerful actors on the market: banks, insurance companies, and corporations such as Shell, BP, Volkswagen, and ING. With scientific precision, Hassink focuses on the desks and tables in deserted, soulless rooms-as if emptiness was one of the inherent features of power.Exhibition schedule: Galerie Wouter van Leeuwen, Amsterdam, 2011 Moscow House of Photography, 2013 And further venues.

"The Table of Power" is Dutch photographer Jacqueline Hassink's gem-like 1996 artist's book / interior design typology that like much of her work explores the balance of power conferred in private, public and social settings. It details the meeting rooms of the boards of directors of forty European companies such as British Petroleum, Ciba-Geigy, and Daimler Benz - twenty-one of which she was able to photograph - revealing the rarely-if-ever seen enclaves where corporate decisions that affect the social sphere are made in secret.
