Flawed copy. First edition (not stated) DATED, INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY CARROLL WALLER AND ADDITIONALLY SIGNED BY DAVID SANSING. x, 220 pages. Hardcover: H 23.5cm x L 15.75cm. Dust jacket's front panel and spine feature color streetscape illustration of the Governor's Mansion by Jackson, Mississippi artist William R. Hollingsworth, Jr. Dj rubbed; light moisture staining across bottoms of flaps, panels, and spine; nicks and several short tears at edges; light soiling and ink streak to white rear panel; multiple small light red stains to front panel which are rather subtle upon illustrated side but much more evident upon the dj's blank obverse; top corner of front flap is price-clipped. Light olive cloth, small subtle stains to front board associated to those of dj's front panel. Slight foxing upon top edge; touch of soiling to fore-edge; past owner's personal name/address label partially peeled at top of front free endpaper. Unfortunate shallow light moisture staining at bottom margins of leaves throughout causing some associated rippling. Carroll Waller's warm six-line ink inscription upon half-title page - "December 1977 | To Carol, | My dear friends who | mean so much to us! | Fondly, | Carroll" immediately followed by co-author Sansing's two-line ink inscription "Cordially, | David G. Sansing." Interior pages are clean. Binding is firm. Only a good copy in a good+ dust jacket. With Preface, three sections of b/w plates on unpaged leaves, first and second floor plan illustrations, Notes, and Index. Historian David Sansing was Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Mississippi and started teaching at Ole Miss in 1970. Ava Carroll Waller was the wife of William "Bill" Waller (1926-2011) who served as Governor of Mississippi from 1972 to 1976.
