This little edition is dated 1817 on both the half-title and title pages yet it is dated 1818 on the printed cover, which is rarely found in this original form, most copies having been bound in leather to a customer's specification after printing. The 559-page text is in very good, tight, clean condition, with no inscriptions. Front inner hinge very neatly strengthened. The printed paper boards binding has survived unusually well, with light wear to the spine ends and extremities. Engraved frontispiece and vignette title page. Weight 271g. See photographs attached. Protected now in stiff plastic jackets. Volume II (printed in 1720 by W. Bowyer, for Bernard Lintot), [5], 6-242, and with fine black-and-white steel engravings at heads, folding map of Homer's Battels, and an essay on same by James Stanhope, quite engaging, and who dedicates the books to King George. This volume comprises Books V-VIII. Volume V (printed in 1720 by W. Hunter for Bernard Lintot) comprises the XVII Book of Homer's Iliad through the XXI and then concludes with a list of Bernard Lintot's catalogue, [6], 2-249 pp. Volume VI (printed in 1721 for J. Bettenham for Bernard Lintot), [5], 2-190 pp. then an Index of Persons and Things, a Poetical Index, and then an Index of Arts of Sciences, quite extensiveMember, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
