Black coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Black and white photographic dustwrapper with back and white colour titles to the front panel and backstrip. The author spent nine months wandering through the then country of Palestine in the early 1950s. From the deserts through to the swamps he made note of the various and diverse natural history, while also making note of the Arab way of life at that time. Softening and a little fading, commensurate with loss of dustwrapper, to the backstrip edges with bumping of the book corners and rubbing of the lower book edges. Browning in foxing to the textblock edges and age toning of the pages. Offset tanning to the endpapers with original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down. Chipping it to the dustwrapper corners and lower backstrip edge. The top 1.25" of the backstrip is missing. There is a 4" tear to the top left-hand corner of the rear dustwrapper panel, which goes into the body of the panel. Rubbing to the panels and there is an erosion to the top left-hand corner of the front panel, commensurate with removal of a price sticker. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
