The dust jacket has several large edge tears with chipping, nicking, rubbing and generalized wear and tear. "Little Brown Koko was a popular story character authored by Blanche Seale Hunt in the 1930s until the early 1950s. The stories depicted an African American child and his mother and pets in a stereotyped and caricatured way. The stories appeared in the monthly magazine Household, published by Capper Publications, and were also gathered and published as a series of books. Many of the stories were illustrated by Dorothy Wagstaff, who studied at Washburn College in Topeka, Kansas and taught at the Topeka School of Art in 1938." (from University of Kansas).
