Slipcase with illustration of a seaman with an octant in his hand, determining the position of his storm-tossed ship, a detail from Homer's classic "Eight Bells", 1886. Endpapers are two of Homer's monochrome watercolors, painted in Canada in 1895, showing men enjoying fishing. This book is filled with such marvelous examples of Homer's work and of his life and the times in which he lived. 190 pages with Chronology of Artists, Bibliography and Index. 12 x 9 inches.
