Chapter 1 of Part 1, relates mainly to the historical development of the truss, has been left practically as written in 1893; Chap. II on the elements of analysis has been considerably enlarged, as is the rest of the work, with much revision, amplification, etc. The whole work is much enhanced with drawings, tables; loading tabulations; deflection calculations, etc. Book plate on front endpaper; boards are showing some fading; minimal staining on pg. 23 & endpapers & flyleaf, else good. It described itself as 'an illustrated magazine of true narrative' & each month purported to feature 'true-life' adventure & travel stories gathered from around the world. Its motto was 'Truth is stranger than fiction'. Some famous names occasionally wrote for the magazine, & it was copiously illustrated with photographs, as well as black & white drawings."
