Paperback. Condizione: Very Good. First of this edition. Issue no. 7, in Chinese and English. An Homage to the graphic arts magazine "Arts et Metier Graphiques", published between 1930 and 1947. And to its founder Charles Peignot. The issue includes: a short portrait by Maxmillian Vox; an essay in the form of an enquiry by Frank Horvat; and a short statement, reprinted from 1947, of the founder's intent. Following are 50 pages of reproductions of major photographs from the "Metier Graphique". Peignot (1897?1983) was director of the Deberny & Peignot foundry in Paris for nearly fifty years. In 1957, with a group of delegates from type manufacturing companies, he founded the Association Typographique Internationale (ATypI), serving as its president for ten years. Throughout his career, Peignot was closely involved in the creation of all the new faces produced by the Deberny & Peignot foundry, which later also became a manufacturer of photocomposition discs for the Lumitype phototypesetting machine. The monochrome photographs are organised in two parts: a one-handed pose and a two-handed pose. Juan I-Jong (born 1950 in Yilan, Taiwan) is a photographer and critic. He began his photographic work in 1972, working for the English magazine ECHO and later, launched the magazine Photographers International. Personal connections, and those between people and the land, are constant themes of Juan s photography. Over the years, his lens has documented the last glimpses of Taiwan s agricultural society.
