Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. First Edition Thus. Grosset & Dunlap edition [n.d.] 1930. LOCKED ROOM MYSTERY. Adey # 1770. Some wear along edges, tiny piece out at head of spine, else very good+ in dust jacket, worn along edges, small 1"x1" sticker tear at front, some loss at head and foot of spine.in plastic cover. "There are several mysteries about the shooting of Gilbert Dexter in San Francisco. Would his brother, Bob, have shot him? Would Bob have managed only to wound him at point-blank range? Were the French windows open or locked? Why were there two revolvers in the room? Further and deeper puzzlement develops when the next-door neighbors are found dead in their locked room with no sign of foul play and no explanation of their deaths. Since the head of the Dexter family is a retired judge, the authorities investigate the shooting in a gingerly manner, and, so it would seem, there is not much involvement by the police in the locked-room case. Fortunately, Bezaleel Lucky, millionaire former grocer and husband of one of Judge Dexter s daughters, takes it upon himself to investigate in amusing fashion with his proverbs, his constant interruptions, and his complaint that all anyone, but not him, wants to do is talk." -- The MYSTERY FANcier, Vol. 13, No. 1, Winter 1991. Hardback. First Edition as stated on the copyright page. Book is a Tight sound unmarked copy in Good condition with slight edge spotting. Dustjacket is in about Good condition with a lot of wear right on the edge seams, but the spine and front cover illustration area is still quite bright and attractive. As often happens with these earlier mysteries, the dustjacket has been reinforced on the blank white back side with some brown strapping tape, but this is not noticeable at all when viewed from the front. We have placed dustjacket in a brodart protective cover and the dustjacket looks much better than described and the Brodart cover pretty much hides the brown tape flaw completely. $2.00 original price is present and unclipped on front flap of dustjacket.
