Condizione: Good. Good. - The close of a letter penned on 2-18 inch high by 8-1/2 inch wide lined buff paper clipped from the bottom of a page. Isidore de Lara has written and signed "I am Yours Very Sincerely Isidore de Lara" on the roughly cut sheet of paper. There are a couple of faint spots of foxing and the shadow of a word along the bottom of the sheet. Folded twice vertically with remnants of mounting paper pasted to the top of the verso. Good. Isidore de Lara (1858-1935) was an English composer and singer. Born Isidore Cohen he was successful during the 1890's composing music for the opera in Monte Carlo. "Messaline" (1899) was his most popular opera.

Large octavo. Full modern blue cloth, titling gilt to spine. 1f. (title), 1f. (dedication), 1f. (notes on first performance, named cast list, and contents), 274 pp. Named cast includes for the 1906 production includes Charlotte Wyns, Dereyne, Lucien Fugère, Zocchi, Thonnerieux, Rougon, Perret, Bonafé, Rebuffel, Vincent, and Delcour and for the 1908 production Chenal, Nelly Martyl, Judith Lassalle, Lucien Fugère, Léon Beyle, Delvoye, Blancard, Vaurs, Lucazeau, Barthez, Brun, and Fayolle. Binding slightly worn and faded. First three leaves detached and with tears to inner margins; minor chip to upper corner of final leaf. First performed at the Théâtre de l'Opéra in Nice in February 1906, under A. Saugey. An English composer, and singer, "although French influences (Massenet especially) predominate in de Lara's operas, he was a truly eclectic composer."
