Cloth. Condizione: Very Good Indeed. Not Stated (illustratore). A signed copy of William Henry Purchas and Augustin Ley's work on the flora in Herefordshire, illustrated with a folding map. Signed by the author to the verso to the front endpaper, 'With A. Ley's kind regards'. This work is a comprehensive guide to the flora to be found growing in Herefordshire. Looking at umbelliferae, primulaceae, orchidaceae, cyperaceae, filices, caryophyllaceae, and much more. With a folding map to the frontispiece, and three plates. Edited by William Henry Purchas and Augustin Ley. Ley was known for his work collecting mostly in Herefordshire and along the Welsh borders, and was very knowledgeable on Bryophytes. Purchas was educated at Durham and was also a member of Woolhope Naturalists' Field Club, for which there is a gilt stamp to the boards. Undated, dated from Copac from a copy held at the British Library. In a cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Some minor marks to the boards. Front hinge is starting but firm. Author's ink inscription to the verso to the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some scattered spots.
