ER writes to comfort a friend: "I am distressed to hear the news of your mother's death . what a dreadful blow for your sister! . Work is the only help and I am glad you are plunging into it but don't overdo. I wish I could attend the dinner so that I would have a chnace to see you but I am sorry to say I will be in Michigan that day.".
