Hardcover. Condizione: Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. This printing is dated 1935 on the title page and the copyright page states c1930. Doubleday, Doran is the original publisher as stated on the title page so this is probably not a reprint edition. However, neither the book's spine nor the dust jacket list any publisher and the jacket lists no price. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs. The dust jacket is protected by a Brodart mylar cover. Not an ex-library copy. No remainder marks. Most books shipped within 24 hours. All books mailed with delivery confirmation in a heavy cardboard box. The dust jacket is missing pieces at the head and bottom of the spine panel which also is lightly sunned. The jacket also has some foxing or staining. There is a bookplate from a previous owner at the top of the front inside cover which is also covering most of a signature. The book's boards are partially sunned and stained (especially the rear board). The book was discounted at some point as there is a rubber-stamped notation "2 OY .37 or? 4 for 1.39" on the rear fly-leaf. Good condition in good dust jacket. Contents are very good. Selling Used and Rare books on line since April 1998 and from our bookstore in the heart of the Bluegrass since 1984. ; Black-and-white photographs; 8vo.; 338 pages.

Green Cloth. Condizione: Good+. No Jacket. Reprint; (c) 1930. Green Cloth. Good+/No Jacket. Reprint; (c) 1930. Hardback. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 338 pages; illustrated with photographs; this is the fascinating story of Hetty Green, of New Bedford, Ct.; the greatest woman financier in the world, and the richest woman in the United States. In 1885, her worth was $25 million, at her death in 1916, four times that amount. From p. 10 of the text: "In.1885, for the information of tax assessors of Bellows Falls, Edward H. Green listed as his worldly posessions seven dollars and a watch. Mrs. Green's own explanation of their separation, made years later, was that her husband had disobeyed her in a financial transaction. .This episode (their separation, actual and financial) was the birth of a legend of fantastic miserliness that for a quarter of a century afterward kept pace with her tremendous capacity for making money. She knew how to make money but she simply could not spend it." Book condition: Book spine is faded to a grey-tan; two edges have darkened to a tan color, top edge is dyed black; end papers, and adjoining pages to the beginning of text, have scattered foxing, heaviest on the endpapers, decreasing toward the text beginning. Throughout the text, foxing shows in the margins as a light tan tone. Disregarding the cover fade and internal foxing, the book approaches VG condition.
Condizione: Good. . No Dust Jacket (Millionaires, Capitalists, United States, Biography) A copy that has been read but remains intact. May contain markings such as bookplates, stamps, limited notes and highlighting, or a few light stains.

An early printing of the classic with its original 13 page promotional insert with 5 pages hyping the Witch of Wall Street including glowing reviews by the New York Times & the New Yorker. The insert also includes a 2-page centerfold advertisement for an autographed Rockwell Kent woodcut for only $3.50! Original DJ is super-attractive with only minor evidence of shelf-rubbing along edges and on tips and heel.
