Stearns' reminiscences of sport afield. Gunning for grouse and woodcock in New England, shooting quail in Florida, bird dogs and numerous incidents of fly fishing for trout and salmon. The first of eventually three books penned about his sporting interests. This copy in VG condition and bears a signed presentation on the front free endpaper to Philadelphia railroad magnate Charles T. Ellis. Uncommon in the variant brown cloth binding. Author's second book dealing with his sporting interests which include fishing for trout and hunting grouse, especially at his beloved Marshepaug Club in Connecticut. Book in VG condition with spine titles faded as usual, small chip upper front free endsheet along with faint fold to same o/w internally clean. All of Stearn's books are hard-to-find.

Spine titles lightly faded as usual, some wear to spine ends, 1 page corner turned o/w a solid VG copy.
