Diego de Estella (Diego Ballestero de San Cristóbal y Cruzat 1524-78) fu un francescano spagnolo, teologo e mistico; il Trattato sulla vanità del mondo è l'opera che lo rese celebre, ebbe molta fortuna e fu tradotto in varie lingue.

DICHO ESTO, QUE ES PRECEPTIVO, EL LIBRO EN GENERAL SE ENCUENTRA EN BUEN ESTADO, con el papel firme y fuerte, conservando íntegramente los márgenes originales. Este encomiable trabajo consiste en diversos extractos de dos obras de Fray Diego de Estella ("Vanidad del mundo" y "Meditaciones devotissimas del amor de Dios"), analizados y explicados en castellano a los feligreses para las misas del ciclo dominical y, después, con respecto al santoral cristiano. Existen varias ediciones previas de esta obra, pero la que ofrecemos se presenta a sí misma como tercera, entendiéndose que se trata de la tercera revisión; es la última en lengua española, habiendo otras en italiano y francés. El autor, sacerdote de la orden franciscana nacido en Santiago de Compostela en 1530, también adaptó la obra de Fray Luis de Granada para el año litúrgico.
