The volume number is misleading: this is actually the 4th issue. The next issue was numbered volume 5, number1 and was the 5th issue. At the time Notley was still living in Chicago where she published the first six of nine issues. She moved to England following husband Ted Berrigan where she published the remaining three issues noted as "The Europan Edition." She became associated with the New York School of poets along with Anne Waldman & Maureen Owen who published similar journals, The World and Telephone, respectively. Includes an illustration by Tom Clark of his piece At Malibu.
