Condizione: Good. Second edition. Hardcover book . Full leather, an early binding, with black incised border lines with decorative corners, and 4 raised bands to spine. 375pp, a small volume, 13.5 x 8.5cm. Title page followed by Testimonia de Virgilio et ejus Operibus, 2pp, then the main texts follow, the Bucolics, Georgics and Aeneid. Entirely in Latin. A nice little volume (with small print) in Good condition. The covers are clean but rubbed and worn, with the hinges good, no title label to spine (perhaps as bound). The pages are well bound apart from the title and next leaf which are loosening. Leaf before title cut out (probably a blank leaf with an old owner name on it). Pages generally clean with the occasional spot including a tiny candle burn spot. A couple of small marginal notes. Early owner's names to title page and inside front cover, with later pencil notes on front free endpaper. Pictures available.
Full-Leather. Condizione: Fine. (xv), 470 p. size 14.2 x 8.5cm. Illustrated with 27 albumen photographs (photographic vignettes after drawings by Félix Joseph Barrias). The photographs are tipped in at the beginning of each chapter, and are unfaded and in excellent condition. This little book is in remarquable condition, with virtually no foxing (I can find only one spot on the title page and the opposite leaf). Binding is gorgeous as well, in full red leather with gilt rules on boards and 5 raised bands on spine with decorative gilt. Leather is starting to crack at the hinges, but binding is still solid and straight. Inner hinges solid and intact. Marbled endpapers, AEG. No inscription, but a very nice and unobtrusive "Auguste Fontaine" logo embossed in the corner of the half title page. A copy of a scarce title, illustrated with 27 original albumen photographs, in a remarquable condition. Truthful Lens # 179.
