14" x 11", unframed, on Bainbridge Government Board, some minor marks and light wear to corners. A wonderful inscribed photograph from one of the preeminent 20th century US Presidents to one of the most prominent UK Labour Prime Ministers of all time, signed & inscribed from President Johnson 'To Harold Wilson with every good wish, Lyndon B. Johnson'. An excellent item from this significant political period, presumably presented to Wilson at the beginning of his first tenure as Prime Minister. Arnold Abner Newman (1918 - 2006) was an American photographer, noted for his 'environmental portraits' of politicians and famous people.

Fotografia Copia autografata
Inscribed & signed by President Johnson, 'To The Right Honorable Harold Wilson, O.B.E., M.P. Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, with warmest personal regards and best wishes, Lyndon B. Johnson [signed]'. Presented in silver frame bearing the Seal of the President of the United States, stamped 'Sterling Hand Made', 270 x 210 mm. An excellent portrait of President Lyndon B. Johnson, hands clasped and looking focussed and thoughtful. A unique inscribed photograph thus, affectionately presented to then Prime Minister Harold Wilson. Harold Wilson & Lyndon B. Johnson had initially enjoyed a positive relationship during Wilson's first tenure as Prime Minister but the Anglo-American 'special relationship' had been strained to quite some degree by Wilson's refusal to assist America in the Vietnam War. This was largely due to a political lack of will amongst the Labour Party and the British people but also born from the economic difficulties Britain was facing for having maintained a military presence East of Suez.
