Hardcover, 8¼" x 5½" (lacks jacket - none issued?) 236 pages Light-green cloth-bound boards with gold title to spine and front, 13 b&w photographs including 7 maps of an ever-dimishing Hungary, references, and bibliography on the Treaty of Trianon. The author is a Franco-Hungarian (Hungarian father, French mother), educated in France, and fought in her forces during WWII. This book is his expression of grief at the crime which France committed against Hungary ('the mutilation of a nation') at the end of the First World War - 'in stark violation of the ethnic principle proclaimed by the Allied and Associated Powers.' In 1920 the Trianon Treaty deprived Hungary of territories which had belonged to it without interruption ever since the Magyars took possession a thousand years earlier - it was the physical, economic and historic end. Appendix include the fascinating 'Mongol Letter' addressed by Bela IV, King of Hungary, to Pope Innocent IV, on 11 November 1252. Ours is an ex-library copy, with stamps stickers and barcode. Book in VERY GOOD condition.
