Hardcover. Condizione: Good. First Edition. Hi. Welcome to our small, family-owned bookstore. Copyright 1937 by the author, Agnes Danforth Hewes. Published by Doubleday, Doran and Co. Hardcover, no jacket, brown with picture of a horseman, title on spine, in darker brown. Some bumping wear on the corners and spine; one small chip on the foot of the spine. Bump on the upper edge of the front cover. Purple-tinted top edge is faded in spots. Upper corners from the first to page 100 have light water stain. Pictorial endpapers. The front ones bear a name-stamp of a previous owner. Pages are clean, free of marks or damage (page 271 has a fingerprint, though.) 280 pages, lightly age-yellowed. Mini-deckle fore-edge. Snug, solid, secure binding.Packaged using bubble wrap and a sturdy cardboard box. Thanks for checking out this book from our small-town brick-and-mortar and supporting small business.

Stated first edition. A young engineering student arrives from the east to spend the summer with his uncle, a rancher and prospector in the Columbia River Valley of Washington State. The uncle disappears, with only his donkey returning carrying a saddle bag and a gold-flecked jacket. 280 pages with illustrations.

The book is very good with minor shelf wear, previous owners inscription on half title page, very old Superman sticker on first blank page and an Ogilvie Wheat-Hearts sticker on page 277. The book has no writing or other marks. The stickers may be worth more than the book. The dust jacket is good with edge wear,some chipping and some small closed tears.
