Prima edizione
Introductions by Francis J. Grimke and John B. Reeve. Illustrated. (illustratore). Very Good (covers nice & bright; contents clean & tight). A very nice copy! Small 8vo., dark-cranberry cloth, stamped in gilt; 263 pages Rare First Edition. Anderson [1848-1928] was an important African-American minister and educator in Philadelphia. He was a birthright Presbyterian-the heir of five generations of Presbyterian forbears going back to colonial days. In "Presbyterianism-Its Relation to the Negro," Anderson presents two challenges to the Presbyterian Church over race that are still relevant now as they were then. The Anderson's family home was a part of the famous Underground Railroad. Their house and farm, located about three miles north of the Mason-Dixon line, became a haven for fugitive slaves looking to flee the South. A rare title!.
