"Life on the Enterprise" by a cadet in the Massachusetts Nautical Training School. The school is a floating institution, and the schoolhouse is known as the steam sloop of war Enterprise. Her keel was laid in Kittery Navy Yard in 1875, and she was launched three years later. The ship contains six wrought iron boilders, Scotch, with return fire, and has two furnaces to each boiler. Her engines are compound, condensing, back-acting marine engines, and she has what is know as fuel sail.
