Zeichenstil und das datierte Wasserzeichen siedeln die Entstehungszeit dieser Zeichnung einer ländlichen Idylle in die frühen Jahre des Pariser Aufenthalts von Wille. 1736 war Wille zusammen…mit dem Berliner Gg. Fr. Schmidt (1712-1775) nach Paris gegangen. Im September 1761 reiste Wille zusammen mit F.E. Weirotter (1730-1771), A. Zingg (1734-1806) und D. Hien (1725-1773) in der Normandie um zu zeichnen. Die bildhafte Durchführung und der schematische Baumschlag verbieten es jedoch, die vorliegende Zeichnung als Naturstudie zu bezeichnen. Rokokogeschmack und Holländermode sind hier eine enge Verbindung eingegangen. Gleichwohl sind derartige Blätter von entscheidender Bedeutung für die Entstehung der realistischen Landschaftsschilderung in Deutschland.
