Pages are all intact but have some discoloration on some of the pages. 24 full page illustrations at rear of book. Has the signature of the former owner in very old cursive "Stephen P. Rodgers April 18, 1831". Another indiscernible name in cursive on the next blank page with a date of February 8, 1828. Front cover is almost detached from book. Hardcover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This beautiful small book is still tight and holds together well. Spine cover is splitting at the edge and a 1/4 inch piece is missing at the top. There is foxing throughout as would be expected of a book this age. Still the book holds together well and the gilt lettering and decoration on the spine is still bright. A wonderful little anachronism.

Reverend Blake was a prolific writer with intersts in American history (and Indians), astronomy, oceanography, school readers, earth science, chemistry, anthropology/sociology, farming, natural philosophy, biography and geography as well as religion. He was also founder of the Ladies' Magazine (edited by Sarah Josepha Hale 1827-36). American Imprints 2390 [later reprinted in 2012].
