Strange little tale from Mr Priestley - like a" Purple Rose of Cairo" in reverse, where our hero (or anti-hero) is in the movie theater and finds himself actually entering the film he's watching. Interesting drawings from the Channel Island artist, Edmund Blampied (name all the famous people from the Channel Islands you can!), looking very 1920's-ish which was really his heyday. Nice blue boards blocked in red on spine and upper cover, There is some spotting and slight browning to edges and endpapers, but a very good copy indeed in an almost very good dust jacket which is a little browned - especially on spine panel - with edgewear and a few closed and creased tears to top edge. Two short tears, one at the top, one at the base of front panel, have been internally repaired with tape which has yellowed and stained the outer surface. Still looks pretty good behind the acetate. First published in December 1933, this is the second impression from February 1934.
