Sous jaquette illustrée,Reliure éditeur cartonnée beige et noire, pièce de titre noire, titre en beige. +++++++ Histoire de la vie de Maria Léontiévna Botchkareva (1889-1920) retranscrite en anglais par Isaac Don Levine, un juif russe, réfugié aux Etats Unis depuis 1911 et qui rejoint son pays en 1917 après la révolution russe. C'est lors de son séjour américain en 1918 que la femme soldat raconte sa vie à Don Levine. Paysanne illettrée, Maria devient femme soldat entre 1915 et 1917 dans l'armée impériale. Elle s'engage volontaire avec une équipière qui sera tuée, Yachka et dont elle utilisera le nom comme pseudonyme. En 1917, elle prend la tête des Botchkarioviennes, la « première équipe militaire féminine » et reçoit le grade de lieutenant avant d'être renvoyée au front. Lors de la révolution d'Octobre, elle participe à la défense du Palais d'Hiver. Fidèle au tsar, elle refuse d'intégrer les rangs de l'Armée rouge et se réfugie aux États-Unis où elle sera fêtée comme la Jeanne d'Arc russe. De retour en Russie après son séjour aux Etats Unis en août 1918, elle rejoint l'état-major antibolvéchique. Puis c'est la déroute du « Gouvernement provisoire de Toutes les Russies » et de l'Armée Blanche. Elle sera jugée et exécutée d'une balle dans la nuque en mai 1920 - Bon état reliure, jaquette et intérieur.
