First Separate Edition. Quoting from the biographical memoir of Burnet by F. J. Fenner for the Royal Society of London about this publication: "A few years later he produced a paper [offered here] describing in detail the methodology of the pock-counting technique, including ways of minimizing the occurrence of non-specific lesions." Frank Macfarlane Burnet shared the Nobel Prize in 1960 with Peter Medawar "for discovery of acquired immunological tolerance.".
