Libro Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. A.Ross Thomas (illustratore). 1st Edition. The spelling of the author's name is contentious. I have used the version in the book. Morgan John Winthrop O'Donoven (1893?1969) won an MC in WWI and went on to return to the British army in WWII. He was the chief of a sept of the O'Donovan clan (hence the "The" O'Donoven) and lived in Lissard, Skibbereen, County Cork. This is an account of an almost 5000 mile drive through 9 countries in a 21/60 Wolseley Sportsman Saloon with a Union Jack and an Irish Tricolour flying on the bonnet. The author says of the Irish flag, "I felt it was about time that Europe saw again - the Irish colours, for continental peoples like my own - have long memories". The illustrations (chapter headings and full page) are of a high quality. The gilt shamrock on the front cover and spine, together with the green cloth give an indication of the author's loyalties. Some slight fading on covers - from sweaty hands?.
