"In the 1950s Tim Scott studied architecture, and simultaneously, attended the St. Martin's School of Art studying sculpture part-time. His early work was heavily influenced by his teacher, Anthony Caro. Scott moved to Paris to work aAtelier Le Corbusier-Wogenscky, an architectural firm and while there, he discovered photographs of the work of American sculptor David Smith. Smith was to have a strong influence on a generation of British sculptors in the 1960s. Scott returned to London in 1961. Encouraged by Anthony Caro, he, along with other students at the St. Martin's school, rejected traditional methods and began to work abstractly. For an exhibition at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1965, they were dubbed the 'New Generation'. While Caro and a few other students began using industrial steel, Scott chose instead to work with fibre-glass, a relatively new material for sculpture. By the mid-sixties, Scott was experimenting with different kinds of plastics and bold volumetric shapes of bright colour. The sculptural works in the book and in the current exhibition at Pacart are from this period. From the foreword: The roots of abstract painting and sculpture reach back to the beginning of the 20th Century. In those roots was the start of a new language. At times painting seemed to spill into sculpture. In the decade between 1910 and 1920 Jacques Lipchitz, Henri Laurens, Elie Nadelman, Pablo Picasso and the Russian Constructivists all made coloured sculpture. By the early 1960s, the optimism that pervaded the Art World once more supercharged the dialogue between painting and sculpture. It was thought that sculpture could take the lead from painting and that colour would become three dimensional. Tim Scott introduced colour and new materials and was very much part of what animated this idea. Kenneth Noland's circle paintings were transformed by David Smith into painted steel sculpture, while Anthony Caro took weight away from sculpture and floated colour space.".

Product Description:As you take a well-deserved break in a city that seems friendly enough, you quickly notice an unusual amount of activity around the marketplace, as well as the unresonable cost for meals at every inn. You soon discover that many food items have become scarce in the city, causing prices for those goods to soar and creating a mild panic among the population.Having heard of your party of bold adventurers, Marrick, a leader among the local merchants, approaches you on behalf of his fellows."Over the past few years," Marrick explains, "our fair city has become dependent upon a village named Darbin, about five day's travel to the west. The village's farms yield a great harvest each year, and they have become a major supplier of our city's fruits and vegetables.""The problem is this: No deliveries have been made by the farmers of Darbin in over two months. Twice messengers have been sent to Darbin, but neither has returned. Their seasonal harvest should be complete by now, and yet not one wagon has appeared. If they don't send their goods soon, we will have to cast our nets farther abroad and pay even higher sums to meet the demands of our citizens.""We ask that you do to Darbin and speak with Brock Gnath, the head of the village's farmers, and find out what needs to be done to rectify this situation. A few of us have collected what we hope is a reasonable sum in payment for your services."Please accept our offer. We need your help.".

Many a merchant has made his fortune sailing the high seas, transporting goods from one port to another, traded things that are needed for the one thing he needs: gold. One such man is the powerful sea-trade merchant Baldrick Mornstar, master of a fleet of cargo-laden ships. When the shipping lanes Mornstar depends on become infested with human sharks, the well-heeled merchant casts about for some brave souls to take care of the problem - permanently. After numerous attempts by hired scoundrels to deal with the pirates on their own watery turf fail miserably, Baldrick decides the best way to end the problem is to catch the blackguards off-guard, hitting them where they're sure to expect it least: at their land base. Like the town crier Mornstar hired shouts, this is a job for stalwart adventurers, for competent adventurers, but mostly for adventurers who aren't afraid to use their heads. After all, when you're dealing with scurvy dogs like these, it's use 'em or lose 'em.
