hardcover. Condizione: fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: near fine. Cartier-Bresson; Matisse (illustratore). First. Illustrated with 126 large b/w photographic plates, printed in heliogravure. Folio, pictorial paper-covered boards illustrated by Matisse, with matching dust wrapper (price-clipped and just a bit roughed at the edges, but intact with several small chips at foot of rear panel; discoloration on inside from old cellotape, now removed). New York: Simon and Schuster/Verve, (1952). First edition. A near fine fresh copy in a very good dust wrapper. An important and notoriously delicate book, this is a remarkably fresh and clean copy, with none of the usual toning on binding. The wrapper is equally clean but does have minute wear at bottom edge along with 2" closed tear. -- Parr/Badger I, 208-209; Roth 134-135; Open Book 154-155.
