Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine dj. Illustrated by (dj photos) Mario Casilli and George Hurrell (illustratore). First American Edition. [minimal shelfwear to book; jacket shows only light surface scuffing, mostly to rear panel]. (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED "To _______ -- With thanks / for my favourite / photograph! / Affectionately" and SIGNED by the author on the ffep. Autobiography of the British-born actress who was a pretty hot property in the 1950s but walked away for a bit after failing to land the title role in CLEOPATRA. She worked her way slowly back to stardom, largely in American TV, during the 1960s and into the 1970s, but her film career was just sputtering along until she starred in the 1978 British film THE STUD (based on her sister Jackie's novel), which brought her back to the top. This book was first published in England that same year, to take advantage of her newfound visibility -- but bigger stuff lay ahead, comeback-wise, when she landed the plum role of Alex Carrington in the series "Dynasty," and pretty much dominated that show from its second season (1981/82) until its demise in 1989, garnering numerous Golden Globe award nominations for her performance. In 1984, this updated edition of the book appeared, with about fifty pages or so of added material to bring it up to date. (Also in 1984, she famously posed for a Playboy magazine pictorial feature, photographed by the great George Hurrell, one of whose black-and-white portraits of her graces the rear jacket panel here.) Signed by Author.
