pp. xvi, 138, (xxxii) Advertisements. 16 folding maps by G. W. BACON and many text illustrations. Original cloth, a very good copy. *Although mostly topographical, some of the illustrations illustrate cycles - for example, the new Rudge-Whitworth shop interior in Regents Street, a soldier operating a cycle-typewriter [Remington] and an Acatenè Cycle on an Hatherley Stand. The Introduction to the Cycles states - 'Foremost among the modern influences which promote the onward movement of mankind, the cycle takes its rank.Cycling does more, it teaches self-reliance, which otherwise millions have never learnt.' Pages 115 to 120 comprise ' The Ladies' Page ', by ROSAMUNDE VON OELRICHS, author of ' A Woman on Wheels '. There follows a six-page section on Cycle Accessories, including a Remington typewriter. The advertisements largely promote cycles and related requirements. COPAC records copies at the BL, the Guildhall Library and the NLS. WORLDCAT adds University of Manchester. A second edition was issued in the same year.
