Alex Prud'homme" Laid-in are two postcards ifrom Julia - both typed, one dictated and unsigned, the other signed - identifying inscribee Bob as Robert Chambers, a friend of Julia, and a professional balloonist working in France and a member the Bombard Society (named after Bombard who invented the passenger balloon). In one postcard, dated 26 August 1983, trying to arrange a date when she, husband Paul and a couple from Cambridge, can take a flight, and then dinner. The other, signed by Julia, dated 3 June 1983, apologizes for not writing sooner but "we have been so busy taping a new series of television shows for PBS" and confirming her visit to France in September" The book, which focuses on Julia and Paul's life in France, was published posthumous to Julia' death in 2004.
