This is an excellent autobiography taken from the diary of Brigadier General Clinton D Casey who was Commander of 68th Composite Wing "FLYING TIGERS" forward echelon. Promoted to brigadier at age 29, this record covers his actions and the actions of his fighter & bomber pilots during the period August, 1942 through December, 1944. . Vincent flew his aircraft all over China going to virtually every American airfield and base inspecting the situation, giving orders for fighter & bomber attack on Japanese airfields, shipping and other assets, and targets of opportunity, based on G2 [Intelligence"] reports. He writes of his time in each place, the situation, and of special interests are his personal actions and comments in Guile, Liuzhou, Chengtu, Kunming, Nanning and other locations. . PHOTOS: The book is enhanced by many photos by the author. . He was the model for Milton Caniff's Col Vincent Casey in the period comic strip "Terry & the Pirates" . *** Clinton "Casey" Vincent was a commander in the "FLYING TIGERS" in China. While he died in 1955 at the age of 40, this book was assembled from his diaries that he wrote in China combined with government records and interviews with friends and other pilots. Vincent's candid comments about General Joe Stilwell, General Claire Chennault, Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek, and many others bring new viewpoints to any evaluation of these leaders.
