Generic types of formwork and falsework were monitored during use and the guide incorporates the findings of this on-site research. A major finding was that whatever the system used, the greatest potential for increased safety and economies lies at the conceptual design stage. With temporary works accounting for some 30% of the total cost of a concrete frame, the savings can be considerable.
