Some foxing throughout. Toning to frontispiece portrait plus seven other b/w plates all on unpaged leaves (plates bound-in between pages 20-21, 52-53, 68-69, 142-143, 148-149, 172-173, and 244-245). Binding is firm. Else a very good- copy. Fabricated Indian captivity tale (or, in modern parlance, alternative facts) by "Edwin Eastman" with a particular healthful native American concoction dropped into several spots of the narrative. The ever-effective elixir became Dr. Clark Johnson's Indian Blood Syrup with a testimonial advertisement for said medicine on concluding page 310.
