Libro
Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Poor. In Hebrew, vowelized (with nikud, with the vowels). 194 pages. 244 x 180 mm. Umberto Cassuto, also known as Moshe David Cassuto (16 September 1883 - 19 December 1951), was an Italian historian, a rabbi, and a scholar of the Hebrew Bible and Ugaritic literature, in the University of Florence, then at the University of Rome La Sapienza. When the 1938 anti-Semitic Italian racial laws forced him out from this position, he immigrated to Erets Israel and taught at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Elia Samuele Artom (15 June1887 Turin, Italy - 25 February 1965, Rome, Italy) was an Italian rabbi and author. He graduated from the Rabbinical College in Florence and served as rabbi in various communities, including Tripoli, Libya, 1920-1923 and Florence 1926-1935, where he also taught at the university and at the Rabbinical College. He settled in Mandatory Palestine in 1939, but from 1953 to 1965 he spent part of the year in Italy, teaching at the Rabbinical Schools of Turin and Rome. Among his many pupils was his son Emanuele. Artom's son Reuven was killed in the battle of Motza during the Israel War of Independence in 1948. A close friendship bound Artom to the distinguished scholar Umberto Cassuto, who was his brother-in-law. Artom's work includes numerous biblical studies, and he also wrote on literature, grammar, history, halakhah, and Jewish thought. Artom's major work is a Hebrew commentary, with introduction, to the Bible and a Hebrew translation, commentary, and introduction to the Apocrypha (1958-1967).

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. 2nd Edition. In Hebrew. Half leather. With many geometric drawings. Cropped last line on verso of second title page. 198 x 163 mm. 2 parts, each with its Hebrew title page. Part 1: (7), 3l, (1), leaves numbered 32-58. Total of 66 leaves for part 1. Part 2: 61 leaves. Total for both parts: 127 leaves. Part 1 lacks second, Latin, title page. It's not unheard of for books printed for the Jewish market to be sold without an extra Latin title page even when one was printed whether to honor some Christian nobleman or please a censor. The author expanded the first edition in this second edition, dividing it into 2 parts. Apparently Part 1 first leaf and all of part 2 were printed in Berlin but the rest were printed in Frankfurt am Oder. WorldCat: Note(s): Different parts were printed in Berlin or Frankfurt an der Oder./ Each vol. has special t.p.: [helek 1.] First 4 leaves were printed in Berlin : Gedruckt bey Isaac Jacob Speier, 525 [1765]; added t.p. of pt. 1: Helek rishon mi-sefer Melekhet mahshevet, ha-nikra Ir heshbon (Frankfurt an der-Oder : Ba-defus shel Dokter ve-Prefeser Grila, 526 [1765 or 1766] -- [helek 2.] Berure midot : ve-hu helek sheni mi-sefer Melekhet mahshevet (Berlin : Gedruckt bey Isaac Jacob Speier, 525 [1765]).
