The rest of the text is by Herbert Read, E.J. Carter and Carlos Dyer. The point of the book, however, is the reproduction of numerous paintings, cartoons and photographs of the first years of the War. Only the frontispiece is in colour. Pictorial boards by E. McKnight Kauffer. illustrated cover, no dj, bookplate and signature of William Ward, former longtime head of publications at the leveland Museum of Art.
