Title page also by Emil Rudolf Weiss. Just touches of wear to extremities with a couple of tiny places just rubbed through, cover image intact, covers ever so lightly soiled, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. No jacket if it ever had one. This is a book of poetry in German. Born to a Jewish family of merchants Alfred Mombert (1872-1942) abandoned a career in law to write poetry. His neo-Romantic verse, with its mythic and religious allusions, prompted comparisons with William Blake from his contemporaries. The German painter, graphic artist, typographer and poet Emil Rudolf Weiss (1875-1942) is considered an important representative of modern book art. Weiss's early graphic work, including this volume, was influenced by Symbolism and Jugendstil. Spamerschen Druckerei was a noted printer of literary and artistic works. An unusual collection of poetry with an unusual cover image.
