Copia autografata
No Binding. Condizione: Collectible-Fine. Original hand-drawn comic strip art by Ken Ernst for the comic strip, Mary Worth. Written by Allen Saunders. Signed by Ken Ernst and Allen Saunders in black ink on Panel Two. Original black ink on white paper. Original sticker on the first panel says, "[Copyright] Field Enterprises, Inc, 1974." "Thursday-Feb-21" handwritten in black ink at the top in the center. February 21, 1974. 20" x 6 1/2." Art is very clean and intact with minimal age wear. Ken Ernst (1918-1985) was an American comic book and comic strip artist. He is best-known for his work on the Mary Worth comic strip, which ran from 1942-1985. Allen Saunders (1899-1986) was an American writer, cartoonist, and journalist. He wrote for the Steve Roper and Mike Nomad, Mary Worth, and Kerry Drake comic strips. Mary Worth is a dramatic comic strip about an older woman who give advice to people with relationship problems and her acquaintances. Depending on the source, the Mary Worth comic strip is considered a continuation of the Depression-era comic, Apple Mary (1932-1938), which was about an older woman trying to make ends meet as a food vendor. According to the King Features Syndicate, Mary Worth is not a continuation of Apple Mary, but Saunders wrote in his autobiography that he felt it would be better if he rewrote Mary Worth as a suburbanite instead of a food vendor. This is a three-panel comic strip. Mary Worth does not appear in this particular comic. Panel One: An older woman stands in the doorway while her son, Dean, and a younger woman, Cosette, face her. Dean says, "Come in, Mother! Cosette and I have an important announcement to make!" The older woman replies, "Really Dean? I'll be . interested to hear it, I'm sure!" Panel Two: Dean is not visible but says, "Let me put it this way . just one week from today you'll be donning a mother-of-the-bridegroom dress!" The older woman looks surprised. Panel Three: With a dissatisfied expression on her face, the older woman says, "Well! This is a . a surprise! I had understood that you were not going to . to take such a serious step hastily! I hope neither of you has cause for regret!" Dean and Cosette look at her and stand aside with looks of frustration. Signed by Author(s).
