A history of the religious troubles in the Netherlands from the abdication of Charles V (1555) to the outbreak of the Dutch revolt (1568). Vander Haer was a catholic from the Southern Netherlands, dedicated to the Spanish governor Alessandro Farnese, as much prized for his moderate views.
