Hardcover. Condizione: New. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. Garrison, Carri (illustratore). 1st Edition. New condition ruby red boards with a black cloth spine and silver spine lettering contained in a fine condition non price-clipped color photographic dust jacket. Includes Dedication; Acknowledgments; From the Author to the Reader; and Preliminary Page Quotes. 4th Printing. "A powerful book. A beautiful tale of a woman's mystical journey." - Marianne Williamson. "This incredible adventure story offers us an opportunity to discover the wisdom of an ancient culture and to hear its compelling message." - from the jacket front. "Mutant Message Down Under is the fictional account of the spiritual odyssey of an American woman in Australia. Summoned by a remote tribe of nomadic Aboriginals to accompany them on a walkabout through the Outback, she makes a four-month-long journey with the "Real People," as the tribe calls itself. During this time she learns how they live and thrive in natural harmony with the plants and animals that exist in the rugged geography of the desert region. By traveling with this extraordinary community of individuals, Morgan becomes a witness to their essential way of being in the world based on the ancient wisdom and philosophy of their more than 50,000-year-old culture. From the first day of her adventure, Morgan is challenged by the physical requirements of the journey. She faces daily tests of her endurance, and these challenges ultimately contribute to a personal transformation. Her Aboriginal companions generously welcome her as one of their own and become her compassionate teachers. She learns from them to celebrate the unique talents and inner spirit of each person, witnesses powerful methods of natural healing, and comes to understand that their awareness of what it is to be alive is deeply meaningful. Mutant Message Down Under, and underground bestseller in its self-published edition, recounts a unique, timely, and powerful message for all humankind. It is not too late to save our world from destruction if we realize and honor that all living things -- be they plants, animals, or human beings -- are part of the same universal oneness. All live in a beautiful state of interdependence. If we heed the message, our lives, like the lives of the Real People, can be filled with this great sense of purpose." - from the inner front and rear jacket flaps.

Wraps. Condizione: Good. Carri Garrison (illustratore). [10], 165, [1] pages. Rare First self-published edition. Downunder is one word printed upside down. Signed on the title page with sentiment Love from The Outback bard Marlo. Cover wear. This book does not contain a laminated cover because it is the belief of the author that to do so would only add further damage to the environment. Marlo Morgan (born September 29, 1937) is an American author, best known for the bestselling book Mutant Message Down Under. She has also written Message from Forever, another novel based on Australian Aboriginal themes. Marlo Morgan self-published a book in 1991 titled Mutant Message Down Under, purported to chronicle the journey of a middle-aged, white, American woman with a group of 62 desert Aborigines, the "Real People", across Australia. The author states the book was written after the fact inspired by actual experience. Mutant Message Down Under quickly attained word of mouth popularity with the New Age movement in the U. S., was picked up for bookstore distribution by Bookpeople, then consequently picked up by giant publishing firm HarperCollins, and marketed as fiction by them. Nearly a million copies of the HarperCollins publication have been sold around the world. Morgan completed many lecture tours promoting the book in the United States and Europe. In her lectures Ms. Morgan speaks of her experience with the "Real People" and states she is an Aborigine. In 1996 a group of Aboriginal elders, disturbed by the book's implications, traveled to the States and confront Marlo Morgan about her book and to try to prevent a Hollywoodization of it. Mutant Message Down Under is the gripping fictional account of the spiritual odyssey of an American woman in Australia. Summoned by a remote tribe of nomadic Aboriginals to accompany them on a walkabout through the outback, she makes a four month long journey with the 'Real People', as the tribe calls itself. During this time she learns how they live and thrive in natural harmony with the plants and animals that exist in the rugged geography of the desert region. She faces daily tests of her endurance, and these challenges ultimately contribute to a profound personal transformation. Mutant Message Down Under, an underground bestseller in its self-published edition, recounts a unique, timely and powerful message for all humankind: that it is not too late to save our world from destruction, if we learn to respect all living beings and to live in harmony with the earth. -- Publisher description. Marlo Morgan is a retired health-care professional. She lives in Lee Summit, Missouri. Her first novel, 'Mutant Message Down Under', was a 'New York Times' bestseller for thirty-one weeks and was published in twenty-four countries. Presumed First Edition, First or early printing.
