Disbound, VG. xl+320pp, with half title, original upper printers board present, spine lacking, the book has new hesian to the spine & a repacement rear board as if someone had started to rebind the book, 2 ink stamps of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland to the title, text block un-opened, pages uncut. A collection of eleven papers on contagious diseases of the West Indies which were written over several years & sent to Dr Donald Monro [ 1727 - 1802 ] of Scotland. Six of the letters are by Dr John Quier [ 1739 - 1822 ] and include an accounts of his experiments with small pox and the mass inoculation of slaves at the Worthy Park plantation. It has been noted of Quier's methods 'From the descriptions of some of his early treatments it seems that his patients might well have stood a better chance with no treatment at all' [ Craton : Death, Disease and Medicine on Jamaican Slave Plantations; the Example of Worthy Park ] Sabin 67169. 500 grams.

Although not called for, All FOUR OF THE BUKOWSKI BROADSIDES ARE SIGNED. The first example of any of these that we have found signed. Some of Buk's earliest work.
