Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. First Edition. The scarce First Printing of the First Edition; scarce thus. Some rubbing and light edgewear to dustjacket. A humorous collection of 19 of MacQuarrie's best short stories spanning his prolific career, originally published in various outdoor related periodicals of the early 20th Century. They are about fishing (mostly fly fishing) and hunting (mostly duck and deer hunting) in his native northern Wisconsin. MacQuarrie based many of his fictional adventures and characters on real life incidents and people. Each of the stories center around the fishing and hunting adventures Old Duck Hunters Association, Inc (the Inc stand for Incorrigible). Hizzoner, the quirky and often irascable chairman, and the author travel around Wisconsin often in friendly competition, occasionally scheming to out-maneuver the wife, but always enjoying life, companionship, and their outdoor adventures. Macquarrie was a newspaperman, outdoor writer and columnist. In 1936 he moved to Milwaukee, where he became outdoor editor and columnist for the Milwaukee Journal and eventually achieved a nationwide reputation as a writer and author on outdoor subjects. In addition to his newspaper work, he contributed hundreds of articles to national magazines, and was widely respected alike by outdoorsmen, sportsmen, and professional conservation workers. His columns and articles combined a rare sense of humor with an expert knowledge of the technical aspects of conservation and a real love of the outdoors which made him one of the best known outdoor writers of his time.
