Single issue of this general interest magazine of both fiction and nonfiction, perhaps notable for the first two chapters of the detective/mystery story by Anna Katharine Green "The Woman in the Alcove." This was eventually published in book form in 1906. Green is credited with refining and modernizing the detective fiction genre, inspiring Agatha Christie and others. GOOD condition. Heavy chipping and tearing along the fore edge, with a lengthy area of loss along the center fore edge. Mostly minor chipping and tearing along the other edges. Minor soiling and a few stains present, with general toning. A few letters traced in in pencil on the cover title. Paper toned in the interior.
