Spine strip is blue; it is faded on the strip that is against the book's spine. Copyright page states, First printing, June, 1945. There is no letter on the back page. Text block ends are stained green. Reverse side of cover is beige paper with brown illustrations. Owner's name is stamped in owner's block. Very light rubbing on edges; tips of front corners are a little rubbed. Back cover has a light, 1/4 in. and a 1/8 in. stain. Shipping cost in U. S. at media rate will be reduced. Lots of color & black & white illustrations throughout text. Book is clean and tight. No dustjacket as issued. Boards and backstrip have some edgewear, wear, soiling, and bumped corners. The cover illustration has a 1" split at the hinge. Previous owner wrote name in ink in "This book belongs to" on inside front cover. Leaves have no markings, but some do have a little light soiling. Covers are uniformly bright and neat with just trace shelf rub and mild tapping to front corners and a bit of superficial shelf soiling to cover. Trace rub to blue paper spine covering at spine ends and mild nicks to the paper covered boards at the top edges of the opening joints/gutters. Contents bright and fresh; prior owner name penciled neatly in a child s hand to the publisher provided bookplate inside the front cover. Well preserved copy of the 1st printing. VG to VG+.

No chips, tears, creases or written inscriptions on pages, other than previous owner's name on inside of front cover. With hard-to-find dust jacket. Jacket has been corner-clipped, has a couple of chips, and a 2.5" tear at the bottom of the spine,but has done a great job of protecting the book. Jacket is in a clear archival, removable cover. Some discolouration at the edge of the first two pages. Size: Sm 8vo (7.5" to 8").

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. "B" (2nd) Printing. This is a second printing of the first edition. The pages are crisp and clean, showing some darkening of the paper, but few signs of wear. The illustrated cover is bright, with just a bit of wear to corners and spine. The dust jacket is only in good condition, with two nicks of missing paper on the front panel, the larger of which has removed the T in Gretel. The attached scan gives a better idea of condition. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover.
