218pp, (7.5 x 10.25 inches), hardcover with dust jacket. "With 23 sandpantings in color and line" (serigraph prints), catalogue of plates, bibliography, index. In the rear pocket is "Supplement to Beautyway: A Navaho Ceremonial: The Myth," told by Singer Man, recorded (in writing) in the Navaho Language by Father Berard Haile, edited by Leland C. Wyman. 83pp, (6x9 inches), tan wrappers, written in the Navajo language. The large Beautyway book includes "Navaho Beautyway: Its Uses, Mythology, Songs, and Geographical Settings" by Leland Wyman; "The Myth of Beautyway" by Singer Man and Father Haile; "The Myth of Beautyway Female Branch" by Wilito Wilson and Maud Oakes; "The Jicarilla Apache Holiness Rite: The Place of Worship" by Jose Juez Velarde and Father Haile; "The Sandpaintings of Beautyway" by Leland Wyman; and "The Sandpaintings" recorded (in writing) by Maud Oakes, Franc J. Newcomb and Laura Armer. The big book and the small soft cover booklet are both Fine, corners sharp, pages crisp, tight, no markings. The unclipped dust jacket on the large book is Near Fine with a little rubbing to edges and wear at the corners. A tiny chip to one DJ corner, a 1/4 inch tear to another.Bollingen Series LIII. (Note: The less accepted spelling of "Navaho" is used in this book.).
